Some Really Good News

Many folks don't understand that the work of an independent artist, is one of many many tasks.  Indepndent artist generally have to build a team of individuals to help them with live shows and talent to play their music.  Unlike major label artists, independent artists, have to work hard at their publicity, marketing, legal, and publishing.

We at the John-Paul Jones Group, want to say "congrats" to Jp for sticking with his vision all these decades.  We were checking the stats on Reverbnation Blues Charts both Global and USA and we see that John-Paul Jones Group has moved into the #3 spot. 

There are over 4600 spots on this chart.  And to be in the Top 10 was an honor, to be in the top 5 was an even greater honor, but to make it into the Top THREE is wonerful.

Thank you for your support of  Professor Jp and the John-Paul Jones Group.  Please keep playing those songs and sharing the page.  Jp promises he will have new music for you very soon.  He is currently in the studio recording songs for an upcoming project.

Jp & Jesse Doing Their Thang Every year the John-Paul Jones Group does a "soft opening"  many folks don't realize that by November 1st of each year the band is on vacation until March 1st of the following year.    This allows the band much needed time to relax, and to avoid the Iowa winters.  March 1st to May 15th the band starts back in pre-production for the summer concert series. The John-Paul Jones Group is the primary project of its leader, John-Paul "Jp" Jones and it’s his vision and under his direction the band has progressed in its now 20 years of existence. Blues-Bikes-Cars Concert

On July 20th, 2019, despite a statewide heat advisory and power fluctuation problems the John-Paul Jones Group performed at the 1st Annual Blues-Bikes-Cars Concert in Ottumwa, Iowa.  Their brand of Heavy Blues must of  brought in the Heavy Weather, but the band played right to the eve of the storm. The crew worked hard during the storm to pull down the gear and get it out of the storm we were all soaking wet and cold and thanks to a couple good Samaritans we were able to get most of the gear protected. The cars were great as well here are few pictures of them. The Vehicle Show was wonderful with 45 entries.  1st -3rd place was given for cars and trucks. We will get the full roster and awards up in the next few days.  We wanted to thank Scott Reeves of Reeves Hauling for the donation of the Trophies. COPPERTOP STUDIO HUT JOURNAL ENTRY 04-04-2018 CLIENT:  John-Paul Jones Group TIME: 6:30PM to 8:10PM MUSICIANS:    Guitar/Vocals  Jp Jones   Drums - Steven Jones Bass - Sally Ward The John-Paul Jones Group was in the studio today recording an old Sonny Boy Williamson classic tune.  We will keep the actual song under wraps. The band recorded with a minimal setup. The goal is to mimic a direct to recording disc recording.  Sonny Boy Williamson had a unique style of singing.  Jp worked hard at melding his style with this style of blues. But one of the biggest changes, was Jp traded (for this session) his Ibanez Universe 7 String for an Ibanez 6 String Tallman Guitar. Who knew the 7-String Heavy Bluesman could have a softer side.
