So hello everyone!  Some great news.

We have been hard at work in the studio rehearsing
The band is firing on all cylinders ready to bring you the best in Heavy Blues.  Jp has been in writing and recording several new songs.

These songs cover such themes as:
The small town I live in has the nickname of "The City of Bridges"  So my album theme has to do with real life in the "City of Bridges" area... the wonderful thing about living in  river town... and growing up in a small Iowa town.. is they are pretty much all the same.

Same universal issues of being a boomtown when the river and/or railroads were the major modes of commercial transportation.

Themes:
1. Living Life as a Diabetic
2. Poverty Crime and life in Small Town
3. Small Town Family History
4. Reflecting on effect of addiction on one's life
5. Defining One's Self and overcoming self-doubt.
6. Reflection of the Tragedy of negative youthful behavior

The interstate highway system and the rise of NAFTA & long haul trucking changed my area economically, socially, culturally, politically even demographically.  

So my songs are reflective somewhat of the effects of local economic downturn and the real life issues the come with it.

FIRST SHOW OF THE YEAR GREAT TIME!!

Jp & Jesse Doing Their Thang Every year the John-Paul Jones Group does a "soft opening"  many folks don't realize that by November 1st of each year the band is on vacation until March 1st of the following year.    This allows the band much needed time to relax, and to avoid the Iowa winters.  March 1st to May 15th the band starts back in pre-production for the summer concert series. The John-Paul Jones Group is the primary project of its leader, John-Paul "Jp" Jones and it’s his vision and under his direction the band has progressed in its now 20 years of existence. VISIT THEM ON THE WEB On May 18th, 2019 was the Artist's first show of the year, and it was at a new venue for the John-Paul Jones Group.  The venue is the HFI Creativity Lab located at 408 W. Lowe in Fairfield, Iowa. A unique venue with an oval ceiling full dance floor commercial restrooms.  But no alcohol service. This is a ballroom to be the best way to describe it

Blues-Bikes-Cars Concert

On July 20th, 2019, despite a statewide heat advisory and power fluctuation problems the John-Paul Jones Group performed at the 1st Annual Blues-Bikes-Cars Concert in Ottumwa, Iowa.  Their brand of Heavy Blues must of  brought in the Heavy Weather, but the band played right to the eve of the storm. The crew worked hard during the storm to pull down the gear and get it out of the storm we were all soaking wet and cold and thanks to a couple good Samaritans we were able to get most of the gear protected. The cars were great as well here are few pictures of them. The Vehicle Show was wonderful with 45 entries.  1st -3rd place was given for cars and trucks. We will get the full roster and awards up in the next few days.  We wanted to thank Scott Reeves of Reeves Hauling for the donation of the Trophies. WHAT IS A YEAR IN THE LIFE OF JOHN-PAUL JONES GROUP LOOK LIKE? - PART II

So maybe you are wondering how does John-Paul Jones Group operate? What are all the parts of the enterprise? Well to start if off let's get the name out of the way.  The name is unique in that it's not a stage name. It is a family name. Prof. Jp's grandparents Marjorie and Robert Jones names his father John-Paul Jones after her brother John and his brother Paul.  Naming sins and daughters after relatives is a long family tradition in his Black Iowegian Culture.  Naturally Prof. Jp is named after his father and his oldest son is named after him.  So John-Paul Jones Group is an extension of that legacy and very personal. So who are the people who make up the group?  We without these folks things cannot happen. First it's the production crew we had a few over the years but here were a few that helped us out and continue to help the band out.  They are truly "part of the group".   Without these folks  Jazon - Crew Chief & Videographer Scott - Stage & Backl
