HELLO TO ALL OUR FRIENDS

It's October... and well we are counting down until the Album "Broke In Bridge City" will be released.





One of the things a lot of folks do not understand.  When it comes to chart placement, booking live shows... everything is connected.


For instance… many of our musician friends play live concerts… whether it's in bars or festivals.  The one thing that helps those of us who play fairs and festivals is chart placement.


And the only way to get chart placement, is to sell the minimum CDs to make a specific charts threshold.  This has to happen within the 1st week of a release.


What many do not realize is that spotify streams and youtube are exponentially harder to help you reach that goal.


Physical product is the easiest way to help an artist reach that goal.  For some genres in the right week a 1000 units of presale can help an artist make it to a chart.


Once that artist makes it to a chart it helps them with better bookings.  It helps them with press to promote their shows.  It takes hard work and the artist has to produce art that others are willing to share and more importantly purchase.


We first of all want to congratulate our friends in Avey Grows (#aveygrouws) for their consideration for nomination for a Grammy in the 2020 class.



This is a great accomplishment for an independent artist especially one from Iowa that has produced and worked on their record all on their own.


We also want to share Jp's MUTUAL SUPPORT PROGRAM.  Eugene's trick bag records and Jp have created a budget to support independent artists who reciprocate.  To date here are the artists who have participated. Jp has purchased each of these artists CD and they have purchased "Broke In Bridge City"

Jp & Jesse Doing Their Thang Every year the John-Paul Jones Group does a "soft opening"  many folks don't realize that by November 1st of each year the band is on vacation until March 1st of the following year.    This allows the band much needed time to relax, and to avoid the Iowa winters.  March 1st to May 15th the band starts back in pre-production for the summer concert series. The John-Paul Jones Group is the primary project of its leader, John-Paul "Jp" Jones and it’s his vision and under his direction the band has progressed in its now 20 years of existence. VISIT THEM ON THE WEB On May 18th, 2019 was the Artist's first show of the year, and it was at a new venue for the John-Paul Jones Group.  The venue is the HFI Creativity Lab located at 408 W. Lowe in Fairfield, Iowa. A unique venue with an oval ceiling full dance floor commercial restrooms.  But no alcohol service. This is a ballroom to be the best way to describe it

Blues-Bikes-Cars Concert

On July 20th, 2019, despite a statewide heat advisory and power fluctuation problems the John-Paul Jones Group performed at the 1st Annual Blues-Bikes-Cars Concert in Ottumwa, Iowa.  Their brand of Heavy Blues must of  brought in the Heavy Weather, but the band played right to the eve of the storm. The crew worked hard during the storm to pull down the gear and get it out of the storm we were all soaking wet and cold and thanks to a couple good Samaritans we were able to get most of the gear protected. The cars were great as well here are few pictures of them. The Vehicle Show was wonderful with 45 entries.  1st -3rd place was given for cars and trucks. We will get the full roster and awards up in the next few days.  We wanted to thank Scott Reeves of Reeves Hauling for the donation of the Trophies. COPPERTOP STUDIO HUT JOURNAL ENTRY 04-04-2018 CLIENT:  John-Paul Jones Group TIME: 6:30PM to 8:10PM MUSICIANS:    Guitar/Vocals  Jp Jones   Drums - Steven Jones Bass - Sally Ward The John-Paul Jones Group was in the studio today recording an old Sonny Boy Williamson classic tune.  We will keep the actual song under wraps. The band recorded with a minimal setup. The goal is to mimic a direct to recording disc recording.  Sonny Boy Williamson had a unique style of singing.  Jp worked hard at melding his style with this style of blues. But one of the biggest changes, was Jp traded (for this session) his Ibanez Universe 7 String for an Ibanez 6 String Tallman Guitar. Who knew the 7-String Heavy Bluesman could have a softer side. Jp stated, " I was trying to put a LIMITATION" on myself. First couple takes I played finger style, but the band couldn't bite into it.  So he switched to a dunlop pick.  This brought out attack, and also gave the
