EP VOLUME 02 TRIBUTE TO RORY GALLAGHER

I am a child of 60's meaning I was born in the 60's.  I feel like I was born during the time of music prolifercation.  When I was young Chuck Berry's Greatest Hits turned on our record player for hours on end.

As I grew older I became influenced by the great guitarists who came on the scene 1965-1969.  Of those great guitarist Rory Gallagher was one who just blew my mind.

So when I decided to record an EP I decided it would affectionately and simply be called.

A Tribute To Rory Gallagher

I picked three Rory Gallagher songs to record on this album.  I picked three songs that mean something to me.

Cradle Rock
Laundromat
Shadow Play

I recorded Cradle Rock because of the power in the riff and the vocal.  And in my interpretation the lyrics are about others accepting you for who you are and letting you be who you are. 

I recorded Laundromat because when I was young I spent a lot of time in laundromats.  I was poor and had to make do at different times.  I had friends we would meet up at the laundromat, it hails to a simpler time in my life.

Shadow play made it to the EP because it was one of Rory's songs that was part fantasy part progressive blues.  I just love the song.

I am by no means a Rory Gallagher clone... Rory was one of a kind. 

The musicians on the EP are long time John-Paul Jones Group bassist Sally Henry and Housecoat drummer Don Brown

Sally's bass playing is awesome and pays great tribute to original bass lines on the original tunes. 

I want everyone to like our recorded versions.  But we also want to make sure that you make this a stepping stone to learning more about the great artist Rory Gallagher.

Jp & Jesse Doing Their Thang Every year the John-Paul Jones Group does a "soft opening"  many folks don't realize that by November 1st of each year the band is on vacation until March 1st of the following year.    This allows the band much needed time to relax, and to avoid the Iowa winters.  March 1st to May 15th the band starts back in pre-production for the summer concert series. The John-Paul Jones Group is the primary project of its leader, John-Paul "Jp" Jones and it’s his vision and under his direction the band has progressed in its now 20 years of existence. VISIT THEM ON THE WEB On May 18th, 2019 was the Artist's first show of the year, and it was at a new venue for the John-Paul Jones Group.  The venue is the HFI Creativity Lab located at 408 W. Lowe in Fairfield, Iowa. A unique venue with an oval ceiling full dance floor commercial restrooms.  But no alcohol service. This is a ballroom to be the best way to describe it

Blues-Bikes-Cars Concert

On July 20th, 2019, despite a statewide heat advisory and power fluctuation problems the John-Paul Jones Group performed at the 1st Annual Blues-Bikes-Cars Concert in Ottumwa, Iowa.  Their brand of Heavy Blues must of  brought in the Heavy Weather, but the band played right to the eve of the storm. The crew worked hard during the storm to pull down the gear and get it out of the storm we were all soaking wet and cold and thanks to a couple good Samaritans we were able to get most of the gear protected. The cars were great as well here are few pictures of them. The Vehicle Show was wonderful with 45 entries.  1st -3rd place was given for cars and trucks.
