UPDATE FROM COPPERTOP STUDIO HUT

April 29th, 2022 - April 30th 2022

We just wanted to share some photos from the studio.  Jp does everything in his power to make sure performing with him is an endeavour that is efficient, fun, creative and economically sustainable.

If the studio or band needs something to complete the overall goal he will buy it,  if it's something that is economically in the works or is not available,  he will invent it, design it, adapt it, and/or build it.

When Jp asked Tyler to join the band he immediately got to work building a rig for him. These two M-Audio ES-61 Midi controllers were the first order of business.  Jp already had the two Roland GR-33a guitar synth modules.  He added a couple of Behringer powered monitors… What we think is most innovative is his design of the setup itself.  Those of us who know and work with Jp his mind works a bit differently than well everyone else's…  we have more on the technical aspects of the rig.  But Jp has built this keyboard rig to be the easiest to setup and it's the most comfortable keyboard rig ever.  He calls it his "WonABeeThree" rig.

Like Jp, Paddy is very much an electronics tinkerer.  He rebuilt his Acme Bass Cabinet for a flat response bass sound.  It will be coupled with Jp's Seismic Audio  4x6 cabs for live shows, unless Jp snags them for himself. Here in the studio it is used with two Carvin BX250s And an Acoustic 115 which has overdrive all the time. Sans a pseudo Billy Sheen tone.  We work hard at bringing the live sound into the studio… so we have only one sound.

Jp believes in no one in JPJG working harder than necessary.  He built  this Tama Kit 18 years ago. In the picture you can also see that he previously designed and built an ISO chamber for the various kick mics.  Last week he realised that he needed to tune the room  a little more so he built some baffles to help lower bleeding.  We will share more technical information about each instrument in the future. DJ drives an hour to come to rehearsals, not having to pack-up or leave a kit, gives him more time with family… plus he brings the coffee and burritos…

So now that you have heard about the gear let's talk about the PEOPLE

As you may or may not know.  John-Paul Jones Group has been by the namesake since 1998.  To say it's been an easy journey for Jp is completely… false.  LOL.  But, he continues to do it tirelessly and with determination.

We wanted to take a moment to introduce the current line of John-Paul Jones Group performing members.

Prof. Jp states.."This group of musicians are by far the most compatible with what I am trying to accomplish… but, more importantly,  together we are becoming an elite squad… bonded in music and mutual respect… Ocean may have had his 11, but these guys are "Jp's 3".

Steven " Paddy" Patterson - Bass

Tyler Larson - Keyboards

John-Paul "Jp" Jones - Guitar

David "DJ" Zaccari - Drums

Honestly, I do not think there is ANYTHING I won't be able to write or play with these three guys,  I have always said I wanted to be the weakest musician in my band… now I am the oldest AND the weakest! - Prof. Jp"
